3.NR.4.2 worksheets: compare two unit fractions

The standard

Compare two unit fractions by flexibly using a variety of tools and strategies.

Element 3.NR.4.2 of Georgia's K-12 Mathematics Standards (2021, effective SY2023-24), in the Numerical Reasoning strand. It sits under standard 3.NR.4: Represent fractions with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 in multiple ways within a framework using visual models.

What students practice

Five pages compare two unit fractions with bars, shading, and number lines and record the result with >, <, or =. One page asks first whether both fractions refer to the same whole, since a comparison only works for the same whole. Story problems draw two same-size bars before comparing.
