Georgia Grade 6 math, Numerical Reasoning

6.NR.2.2 worksheets: dot plots, bars, histograms, and box plots

The standard

Summarize categorical and quantitative (numerical) data sets in relation to the context: display the distributions of quantitative (numerical) data in plots on a number line, including dot plots, histograms, and box plots and display the distribution of categorical data using bar graphs.

Element 6.NR.2.2 of Georgia's K-12 Mathematics Standards (2021, effective SY2023-24), in the Numerical Reasoning strand. It sits under standard 6.NR.2: Apply operations with whole numbers, fractions and decimals within relevant applications.

What students practice

Students read and make dot plots, read and draw a bar graph, and read histograms and box plots. They do not build a histogram or a box plot. Box-plot questions use the five marks and say about 25, 50, or 75 percent.

Pages 6 to 11 and 14 of 26 · $4

  • p. 6Questions and Data. Decide if each question is statistical, then if each data set is categorical or numerical.
  • p. 7Read a Dot Plot. Use each dot plot to answer the questions.
  • p. 8Make a Dot Plot. Make a dot plot of each data set, then answer the questions.
  • p. 9Bar Graphs. Read the first bar graph, then draw the second one from its table.
  • p. 10Read a Histogram. Use each histogram to answer the questions.
  • p. 11Read a Box Plot. Use each box plot to answer the questions.
  • p. 14Mixed Review. Solve each problem, then check your work.
