4.GSR.8.1 worksheets: draw and identify lines, rays, angles, and lines of symmetry

Draw and test lines, rays, angles, and symmetry using dot-grid figures and visible marks.

The standard

Explore, investigate, and draw points, lines, line segments, rays, angles (right, acute, obtuse), perpendicular lines, parallel lines, and lines of symmetry. Identify these in two-dimensional figures.

Element 4.GSR.8.1 of Georgia's K-12 Mathematics Standards (2021, effective SY2023-24), in the Geometric & Spatial Reasoning strand. It sits under standard 4.GSR.8: Identify and draw geometric objects, classify polygons based on properties, and solve problems involving area and perimeter of rectangular figures.

What students practice

Draw and name points, lines, segments, rays, and angles from endpoints and arrowheads. On dot grids, test parallel and perpendicular sides, mark right angles, and draw and count lines of symmetry. Shape Code and Mixed Review revisit counts and figure relationships.

Where to find it

  • p. 3Points, Lines, Segments, Rays. Look at the dots and arrows on each figure, then answer.
  • p. 4Draw Them. Use a ruler or a straight edge to draw each figure on the dots.
  • p. 5Parallel and Perpendicular. Circle what each pair is, then draw the last two on the dots.
  • p. 6Find Them in Figures. Mark each right angle with a square, then answer.
  • p. 7Lines of Symmetry. Decide if each dashed line is a line of symmetry, then draw the lines.
  • p. 13Shape Code. Answer each question, then use the code to spell a word.
  • p. 14Mixed Review. Read each problem, then answer.
