What students practice
Students read and write the four forms of inequality, test whether a value is a solution, and select every value in a set that works. A page on many solutions shows why an inequality has infinitely many. Then they choose open or closed circles and arrow directions, graph inequalities, read graphs back, and match graphs in a code before writing and graphing inequalities from situations.
What's inside
- p. 3
Read and Write the Symbols
Write an inequality for each sentence, then answer the last two questions.
- p. 4
Is It a Solution?
Decide whether each value is a solution, then answer the last question.
- p. 5
Which Values Work?
Select all the values that make each inequality true.
- p. 6
Many Solutions
Give solutions for each inequality, then answer the last questions.
- p. 7
Open or Closed?
Choose the circle and the arrow direction for the graph of each inequality.
- p. 8
Graph an Inequality
Graph each inequality on its number line.
- p. 9
Read the Graph
Write the inequality each graph shows, using the letter given.
- p. 10
Graph Code
Match each graph to an inequality in the bank, then write its letter.
- p. 11
Inequalities From Situations
Write an inequality for each situation, using the letter given.
- p. 12
Write and Graph
Write an inequality for each situation, then graph it.
- p. 13
Check a Value in a Story
Write an inequality for each situation, then decide whether the value is a solution.
- p. 14
Mixed Review
Solve each problem, then check your work.
Georgia standards covered
6.PAR.7.1
Solve one-step equations and inequalities involving variables when values for the variables are given. Determine whether an equation and inequality involving a variable is true or false for a given value of the variable.
In this packet: pages 4, 5, 13, and 14. 6.PAR.7.1 practice in all our packets
6.PAR.7.2
Write one-step equations and inequalities to represent and solve problems; explain that a variable can represent an unknown number or any number in a specified set.
In this packet: pages 6 and 11 to 14. 6.PAR.7.2 practice in all our packets
6.PAR.7.4
Recognize and generate inequalities of the form x > c, x ≥ c, x < c, or x ≤ c to explain situations that have infinitely many solutions; represent solutions of such inequalities on a number line.
In this packet: pages 3, 6 to 12, and 14. 6.PAR.7.4 practice in all our packets
Who it's for
Grade 6 classes right after one-step equations. Boundaries are positive throughout, and less-than graphs start above 0, so no arrow runs into negative numbers before Georgia's integers unit.
